Petition to Montgomery County Maryland Councilmembers to fund a low-cost spay/neuter clinic:

We urge you to approve the low-cost spay/neuter clinic initiative in the Montgomery County Executive's budget. Overpopulation of cats and dogs is a public health & safety concern, a taxpayer cost and an issue of humane treatment for people and animals.

We have a golden opportunity to expand spay/neuter and save tax dollars. Thanks to a Connecticut non-profit, we can "lease" a surgically equipped mobile clinic at $1/month (yes, $1/month). This virtually free mobile clinic cuts the cost of operating a spay/neuter clinic nearly in half.  It reduces the number of animals abandoned or turned into shelters. It reduces animal suffering by reducing overpopulation of cats and dogs.

Affordable spay/neuter is required by the County Code. It is a proven approach to reduce abandoned and unwanted cats and dogs.

Please support this much needed and long overdue resource for all county residents -- human and furry.
