Hi everyone, A couple of things . . . 1. We’re so close to making the Wisconsin Law Enforcement License Plate Bill (AB 381 / SB480) a reality. The bill already passed through the Assembly unanimously, but must now pass the Senate before Governor Walker signs it into law. With one more Senate floor date left this session in the Wisconsin legislature (probably week of March 19), we’re getting a wee bit concerned. If the bill is not voted on this session, we’ll have to start the entire process from the beginning next session – that means re-introducing the bill, holding public sessions and readings, having it travel through various committees, the whole shebang. We're told there's a lot of positive energy surrounding this bill. But considering all the work that went into shepherding the legislation this far, I don’t want to leave anything to chance. So please write to Senator Cowles, asking him to make sure AB 381 / SB480 is scheduled in March. I even made this handy pre-filled form, so all you basically need to do is add your info and press Send Your Letter. Please encourage others to sign it, as well. http://www.supportmadisonpolice.com/lets-make-the-law-enforcement-license-plate-bill-a-reality-were-so-close/ 2. I still need volunteers to help with the War on Cops book project. We need volunteers for the following . . . • To read passages from the book during the public comment portion of an upcoming Council meeting. • To sign a cover letter that will accompany each book. Ok, I know what you’re thinking after reading this, especially the part about standing up in front of the Council and speaking. Sorry, Paula, no freaking way! http://www.supportmadisonpolice.com/stand-apart-make-a-difference-volunteers-wanted-for-war-on-cops-book-project/ Hear me out . . .You only have to stand up there for no more than three minutes, plus I’ll have the passages highlighted, so you don’t need to ad-lib. So basically I give you the paper with the passage, you go to the Council meeting, read, then leave if you want. Simple! I promise not to throw you to the wolves or take up too much of your time! Thanks! --Paula Fitzsimmons paula@supportmadisonpolice.com
