You don't need me to tell you that law enforcement is in trouble.
Just a couple of nights ago here in Madison, a man charged into a police squad car, then later admitted, per news reports, that he wanted to kill police. http://www.channel3000.com/news/crime/man-who-attempted-to-crash-into-police-cars-wanted-to-kill-them/241712664
Add this incident to the long list of incessant criticisms, protests, police "review" committees, public vilification, and another attempt on a Madison police officer's life several months ago.
Nationwide, recruitment is down, as is morale. Stories abound of veteran police officers eager to retire. Of cops second guessing themselves. Of police forces, like that of Chicago PD, afraid to do their jobs for fear of repercussions.

What did the anti-police crowd think was going to happen?
In their zealousness to frame a narrative of police as oppressors, certain members of the media have left the rest of us with a big mess. And it doesn't help that politicians who should know better, are keeping silent.
But WE, the members of the We Support Madison Police group, won't keep silent - and we won't sit down for bullies.
Chief Koval told his officers not to assume a fetal position. And neither will we. As long as they have our backs, we will have theirs.
These are not just empty words, either.
We've created & delivered this petition (with your help), hosted appreciation parties, written letters to the editors, appeared before the media, delivered support MPD yard signs (several which have been vandalized), worn tee shirts and swag, and testified at a hearing. And now we're going even further with our efforts . . .
My husband, Steve is running for Common Council alder of District 10 in the spring. We're not politicians and have no political ambitions. We lead full, busy lives.
But enough is enough.
The impetus for Steve's running is to support Chief Koval & Madison PD, as well as to focus on public safety.
Although supporting local law enforcement is the focus of his wanting to hold office, he's also interested in working for the welfare of groups that seem to have been forgotten: Senior citizens and retirees.
And he's an animal lover (as am I), so would also work for improving lives for our animal friends. Nothing too extreme. : )
Thanks for hearing me out. I always love hearing from you, so please continue sharing your thoughts.
All the best.
