Anti-police critics seem to be getting great publicity . . .so why can't those of us who *support* Madison PD get equal time? Within the past couple of weeks, I've read two separate anti-MPD stories - today it was the "complaint" against Chief Koval, and the other was the letter the opposition wrote to the DOJ. Meanwhile, our public relations guru sent press releases to local media, regarding our counter letter in support of Chief Koval & MPD to the DOJ. (link at the bottom of this letter) Yet nothing. Nada. Zilch. I've been following up with media, but can't even get a courtesy reply. I'm outraged. Being a journalist is a big responsibility . . .it's about presenting the facts - all the facts - as objectively as possible. It's not about cherrypicking certain tidbits then sensationalizing the heck out of them. (Different topic for another time, I know.) If you feel as I do, put that anger to good use. Please join me in taking a few minutes to contact the following Madison area media outlets. Ask them why they haven't replied to the press releases the "We Support Madison PD" grassroots group sent them regarding the counter letter to the DOJ. You have a right to demand fair-and-balanced news - I just ask that you're polite & factual in your contacts with the media.
