Hello everyone,
A few important items . . .
1. This evening we will unite in our support of Chief Koval & Madison PD, and we'd love for you to stop by - even if for a few minutes to say hello. A few important notes about tonight:
* We will be on the steps of the City-County building at *about* 5:00pm with support signs. Feel free to join us.
* The meeting starts at about 6:30pm. I believe the petition is scheduled towards the start of the meeting - although it *is* subject to change.
* If you'd like to speak, please be sure to register. Forms are available in the hallway, outside the meeting hall. They are typically available at *about* 6:00pm.
* You will have three minutes to speak. You are not obligated to answer questions after you give your speech.
* One of our group's members, Dorothy Borchardt will have "We Support Madison PD" tees available; and another member, Pat Rogeberg will have other swag, including bracelets & buttons. Expenses are out of pocket so we ask for donations.
* I know I don't have to tell you this . . .but as a reminder, this is a peaceful, positive, focused event.
You don't need me to tell you morale in the Madison PD, as well as in police forces throughout the nation is low. Chief Koval & his officers need to hear our collective voice - that we have their backs, that we understand the difficult environment they work in. If you feel as strongly as we do about this issue, this is your chance to make a real difference.
2. Citizens care. There have been several recent incidents of people showing their support. Just one example: A woman who recently picked up a yard sign donated $1,000 so we could buy even more - another made a $500 donation! There are more even more of these stories.
3. Speaking of signs, they are again available at these locations. FYI: They move fast. The demand has been overwhelming.
Southwest Madison: Dave Glomp, 1705 Redwood Lane
Northeast Madison: Dorothy Borchardt - 1717 Elka Lane
East Madison: Norm Sannes, 5345 Queensbridge Road
4. There are several good people who've been working behind-the-scenes to support this initiative. Aside from those names mentioned above, Steve Fitzsimmons, Jim Rogeberg, Merle Bengston, and Dave Glomp have been amazing. Dave, by the way, has done a stellar job of getting media attention for our efforts. And thanks, Maggie, for starting the FB support page. If I forgot anyone, please accept my sincerest apologies.
Hope to see you tonight, and all the best.
