The story of the petition we started just over two weeks ago in England has spread around the world and continues to be reported by the world’s media (Google ‘Lemmium’ to look at the coverage we continue to get) and in the majority of cases the articles include information covering questions such as, what it a heavy metal? What is the Periodic Table? And what is the role of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry? Basically stuff that would only normally appear on science pages was on the news and entertainment pages and the increase in reach is impossible to calculate. To date our tribute to Lemmy has accumulated over 150,000 signatures online and bearing in mind how difficult it can be to get people to act, one can only imagine the number of people who came across the stories but didn’t get round to signing the petition, we could be into the millions across the media websites, the music websites and social media. It got us to thinking about maybe this unique reach allows to demonstrate that Lemmium could be a force for good.
