Support Kim Soo Hyun, Reject Cyberbullying, Reject Murderous Media
The Issue
On the evening of March 10, extreme right-wing pro-government YouTuber 가로세로연구소 said that he would expose the truth behind the death of actress Kim Sae Ron. Since then, the fire of rumors, fanned by unscrupulous media, has burned from Monday to the weekend, triggering a mob carnival on the Internet. When “calumniate" becomes the main theme, who will care about the truth?
I hope that starting from the Lee Sun Kyun incident, to G-dragon being dragged into the water and finally recovering, and now to Kim Soo Hyun's incident, we can truly resist the violent army on the Internet and make this ecosystem begin to change.
I hope this will be the end and watershed of the era of cyber violence. I hope everyone will start to wake up.
In today's Internet environment, everyone has one or two accounts, and it is very easy to express personal opinions. It has brought us many conveniences and increased the channels for expression. However, such incidents are emerging in an endless stream, fully demonstrating the inferiority of human beings and showing the sadness of being human. The most terrifying thing is that the evil of the mainstream media is so obvious. The overwhelming news whose content does not match the title is eroding us with casual exaggeration.
No matter what, we should not stand on the moral high ground and endlessly bully people in the name of false morality, and justify the vicious practice of wanting people to die. So we have to be our own media, we have to resist.
It is too late for us to save anyone who has left because of cyber violence, and it is too late for us to tell them that there are still rational people who understand them. Maybe they’ve made mistakes and wasn't perfect, but none of us are perfect. We all have our own difficulties, and everyone is not perfect.
Supporting Kim Soo Hyun is also supporting ourselves, and also protecting ourselves and the people around us. Gossip is a fearful thing. Let’s not give in to the world of online violence.
