The Issue

Good morning everyone,

I hope you'll take a moment to read about my journey and the unexpected challenges I've faced on the way to achieving my lifelong dream. My name is Kelsey Gullatte, and I recently moved into a private studio in Prattville with the dream to become a professional Tattoo and Body Artist. After countless hours of practice and dedication, the support of friends and family, and a deep passion for art, I was finally prepared to open my doors.

I worked meticulously to meet all health and safety requirements. The health inspector certified my space, awarding us a perfect score of 100, and I proudly earned my body art license. With everything checked off, I was just one step away from opening my studio to the public. The final hurdle was gaining approval from Prattville's planning and zoning department.

To my dismay, I learned that the building housing my studio does not meet specific zoning requirements. This unexpected setback jeopardizes the start of my career and threatens to undo all the hard work I've accomplished thus far. This is deeply personal and critical for me, as it's not just a career but a lifelong dream hanging in the balance.

Zoning regulations can be complex, but I believe there are solutions that would allow my business to proceed without compromising the community standards. True to the spirit of Prattville—a place that supports creativity and entrepreneurship—there must be a path forward that respects the regulations while also fostering new business opportunities like mine.

By signing this petition, you’re not only supporting my personal goals but helping a budding artist bring her skills to the community. Together, we can show the planning and zoning department that there's a community backing a thriving small business. Your signature will help appeal for a review of the regulations or even a potential exemption that can support new and growing businesses in Prattville.

Please sign this petition to help me start my business and contribute to Prattville's vibrant, diverse economy. Thank you for your support.
