COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR KARL SACCA - HUMANITARIAN AND COMPASSIONATE CONSIDERATIONS
This letter is a show of community support for Karl Sacca. We have been informed that there is a possibility of Karl Sacca not being allowed to stay in Canada permanently and that there is a possibility of him being removed from Canada. We want to show Immigration Canada that removing him from Canada and separating him from the life he has built, his friends, his community here, would be very difficult and prejudicial for his health, since his life will be at risk if he leaves Canada and is sent back to Lebanon, not only for security reasons due to the country being at war, but for his medical treatment in Lebanon. We want Immigration Canada to consider granting Karl Sacca permanent residence based on humanitarian and compassionate grounds. Karl Sacca came to Canada on August 14, 2021, to pursue his childhood dream of studying a Master of Arts/Drama at the University of Alberta, and he completed his two-year course on July 11, 2023. Subsequently, Karl Sacca applied for his PGWP and obtained it for three years, which is valid until August 25th, 2026. Since then, Karl Sacca has been a part of the Canadian community. For Karl, after dedicating almost 3 years towards establishing his life here, Canada has become his true home. All his recent establishments and accomplishments have been here, and during his stay in Canada, Karl has been a person who has touched many people's lives with his kindness, happiness, knowledge, willingness to help others and overall, for his tenacity to fulfill his dreams and not give up despite any adversity. If he were forced to leave Canada, it would be detrimental to his health and would have consequences on his recovery since he will not have access to the quality of medical care, needed medications, and health system necessary for the treatment of his illness and his proper recovery.
Karl is bright, full of life, always looks at everything in a positive attitude and is always willing to help others before himself. Karl is a highly educated individual who in his time has become established in the community and who has already demonstrated the potential to becoming a great asset to Canada. Karl aspires to be a permanent and contributing part of our Canadian society. We, as a community, are well aware of the adverse circumstances that his home country faces and the one that Karl is currently facing. The stress on Karl always worrying if he is going to be asked to leave Canada is surely taking an impact on his rehabilitation. As a community, and as its supporters for a better life, we request permanent residency for Karl Sacca. In his time here, Karl Sacca fell in love with our country and has become accustomed to our way of life here. Coming from a country which is infamous for disputes and high crime and war, Karl Sacca is one of those few who choose to stand up to adversities and make a difference in their lives and in the lives of others. If forced to return to Lebanon, it will compromise his health since Karl will not have access to the quality of care that he requires as well as his medical treatment for his current situation on his left-ventricular assisted device (LVAD), and most importantly for the required heart transplant in the nearby future. Also, in Lebanon access to necessary daily medications (knowing that Karl takes around 15 different types of pills on a daily basis) will also be hard since Lebanon is currently facing a significant deterioration in the quality of its healthcare system, leaving cardiac patients similar to Karl, struggling to get their medications from neighboring countries, that is if any opportunity is feasible. Due to the recent political turmoil, war situation, and high immigration rates, particularly among healthcare specialists, Lebanon does not have the infrastructure, expertise, or resources to conduct or follow-up LVAD and transplant patients.
The prospects and potential of this bright individual would be limited, if not completely taken away, if he were forced to return to Lebanon. Our country needs people who are skilled and not just cherish being a part of our community but also believe in giving back to the community. Please allow him to stay to nurture and establish himself in Canada, more than he already has. Karl Sacca is a prime example of what Canada stands for, a rich cultural diversity. He makes friends wherever he goes and knows the importance of community involvement. His absence would be felt greatly throughout the community, and we would be worse off, as a societal group, if he were forced to leave. We are asking that he please be allowed to stay where he belongs and has work so hard, and to be able to continue working towards building his academic and career-oriented future in Canada, a place that he already calls home. We, as a community, support the aspirations of this individual and request permanent residency status for him. As a community we support Karl Sacca application for permanent residency based on humanitarian and compassionate grounds. Please allow him to stay in Canada, a place that he already treats as home. Every person undersigned here joins in this request. Thank you for your time and consideration.
