The Issue

John Amis has dedicated his life to protecting and serving the community of North Vernon, IN, risking his life for the safety and well-being of its residents. As a public servant, John, alongside his K9 partner, has been an integral part of ensuring our streets remain safe. However, despite his years of committed service, he and his wife, Cora, now find themselves embroiled in a lawsuit that threatens their peace and reputation.

The Amis family, beloved by many in the neighborhood, is facing claims that they and their dogs are a public nuisance. The accusations include barking dogs, foul odors, and neighborhood distress, claims that those close to them know to be unfounded. John and Cora have one of the quietist homes on the block.

It’s appalling to see a family, especially one intertwined with the law enforcement that has protected us, subjected to such unfair treatment. John was forced to leave the county he diligently served due to the lack of community support and the undue stress caused by these allegations. Shouldn’t we stand by someone who has always stood by us?

By signing this petition, you assert that you have not experienced any disturbances or fears associated with the Amis family or their dogs. This includes confirming that you have never heard incessant barking, smelled offensive odors, or felt any apprehension when walking down your neighborhood streets due to their presence. Your support can help prove that the accusations are unjustified.

Together, we can show our support for John and Cora Amis, make their voices heard, and aid in dismissing the unfounded claims. For those willing to take an extra step, you can contact their legal counsel at mo@hglegalcounsel.com to offer testimony on their behalf.

Help us protect and support a family that’s given so much to our community. Sign this petition to stand with John and Cora against these baseless claims.
