Dear Friends,

Your support led to Azadi Stadium opening to Iranian women yesterday, October 10, for the qualifier match against Cambodia. While it is a victory that the 40-year-old ban was lifted for a quota of only 4,000 women, we need to keep the pressure on to ensure that all stadiums will be opened completely and permanently.

Azadi means “freedom” in Farsi — and when all women are allowed to freely attend matches, the stadium will finally be worthy of its name.

Please read and share my New York Times op-ed and this petition. We would love to have 300,000 signatures when we declare victory on Monday, October 14. All supporters will continue to receive updates on this issue.

I sent heartfelt thanks to each one of you!
Maryam
