The Issue

I'm reaching out to my fellow residents of Hope, Arkansas, with a deep concern that affects us all. A looming project proposes the construction of a new data center in our beloved community, occupying an enormous 89 acres of our precious land. While technological advances and infrastructure growth can be beneficial, we must ensure that any development meets our actual needs and brings genuine value to our lives. In this case, the stakes are high, and the benefits are questionable at best.

First, consider the job creation promise—a meager 25 positions, which will likely be outsourced rather than filled by our fellow community members. Is this worth the substantial environmental trade-offs we'll face? This project will significantly strain our already overstretched electric grid and threaten our fresh water supply. Such valuable resources should be preserved for the well-being and sustainability of our community, not excessively burdened by a facility that brings so few local benefits.

Moreover, the health of our local wildlife is at risk. The potential noise and vibrations could disrupt their natural habitats, leading to long-term negative effects on the biodiversity that enriches Hope. Our town's charm and unique ecology shouldn't have to suffer for a project that serves outside interests more than our own.

This data center could set a harmful precedent for future developments, leading to increased industrialization without appropriate community consultation or benefit. We, the citizens of Hope, must take a stand to protect our environment, our resources, and our future. By saying 'No' to this data center, we express our unified voice in preserving the quality of the life we cherish and the values we stand for.

I urge you to join me in opposing this proposal. By signing this petition, you are not only protecting our community but also sending a resounding message that Hope belongs to its residents, not to outside interests. Let's ensure that we prioritize developments that truly enhance our lives and maintain Hope as a beacon of community spirit and sustainable living.

Please sign the petition now and stand with us in safeguarding Hope, Arkansas, for generations to come.
