Pleasington Playing Fields Pavilion has stood as a keystone of our Blackburn & Darwen community, supporting local sports and gatherings for decades. Built in the early 1970s, it sadly no longer meets the needs of our rapidly growing community and has become reminiscent of a Victorian dungeon with basic amenities sorely lacking. Issues with electrics, inadequate water supply, and insufficient toilet and shower facilities have all contributed to what is now an outdated and sub-standard venue.

Given the state of the current facilities, serious concerns arise regarding the hygiene and health and safety standards being maintained. Our community deserves a facility that not only inspires pride but also delivers on functionality, safety, and accessibility for all. This is not just about renovation—it's about preserving a community heritage site while adapting it to the needs of today.

A properly refurbished pavilion would bring immense benefits: it would become a safe and welcoming hub for youth sports, create new opportunities for social gatherings and events, boost local morale, and potentially attract further investment into our community. Right now, its condition disheartens visitors and community members alike, preventing us from fully realising these potentials.

We cannot let Pleasington Playing Fields Pavilion continue to deteriorate. This is why we are reaching out to Blackburn & Darwen residents to rally support to secure the much-needed funding for refurbishment. By showing a collective interest in the future use of this facility, we can urge the local council and relevant stakeholders to allocate the resources necessary for its renewal.
