In the heart of our community, Messiah Lutheran Church Food Pantry has been a beacon of hope and sustenance for countless families facing food insecurity in Beloit. For years, we have dedicated ourselves to ensuring that our neighbors—your neighbors—never have to wonder where their next meal will come from. But as we look toward the future, the looming challenge of inadequate funding threatens to limit our ability to serve those in need.

To continue our mission, we are seeking $15,000 from the City of Beloit's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for 2027. This critical funding will allow us to maintain and possibly expand our services, ensuring we can provide nutritious meals, essential supplies, and a spirit of community support. With your help, we can continue to fill the shelves of those struggling with hardship and insecurity.

Statistics reveal that hunger remains a pressing issue. According to [CDC Data], over 10% of our local populace relies on food pantry services each year. With inflation on the rise, the demand is increasing. Last year alone, the Messiah Lutheran Church Food Pantry provided over 20,000 meals. Imagine the impact we could have with additional resources.

We are not just asking for signatures; we are asking you to join us in taking a stand for our community's right to food security. We urge you to support our application to the Beloit CDBG. Write letters, attend the city council meeting on October 19th, 2026, or share this petition widely. Every action counts in making sure our request does not go unheard.

Together, we can make a profound difference—one that echoes the compassionate spirit of Beloit. Your voice matters in this cause. Please sign our petition today and stand by us in our commitment to alleviating hunger and fostering community resilience.
