The Issue

Having lived with an autoimmune condition myself, I know the profound impact that community support can have on one's well-being. The Food Chain charity in London is a lifeline for individuals living with HIV, providing not only nutritious meals but also much-needed companionship and emotional support. This incredible organization offers a beacon of hope for many, ensuring that no one feels forgotten or isolated.

Unfortunately, the Food Chain has been facing significant financial challenges. As a result, their ability to continue offering these essential services is under threat. Without immediate support, countless individuals could lose access to the meals and the vital human connection that helps them thrive, both physically and mentally.

According to the National AIDS Trust, around 103,800 people live with HIV in the UK, and stigma remains a pressing issue. Charities like the Food Chain provide an invaluable service by fostering inclusive and supportive environments, breaking down barriers, and promoting understanding within the larger community.

Our petition calls for increased funding and governmental support for the Food Chain. By securing the financial stability of this charity, we can ensure that its services continue to foster resilience, dignity, and hope for those affected by HIV. We urge local government and philanthropic organizations to prioritize funding for the Food Chain and similar charities that make an immense difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals.

Please sign this petition to help maintain the essential services provided by the Food Chain. Together, we can make a difference and safeguard the community support that is crucial for so many people living with HIV in London. Your signature could be the voice that ignites change and upholds compassion in our community. Sign this petition today, and let's ensure that no one faces their journey alone.

About The Food Chain

The Food Chain exists to ensure people living with HIV in London can access the nutrition they need to get well, stay well and lead healthy, independent lives.

Inspired by our practical response, hundreds of volunteers deliver our services, supported by a small staff team.

People living with HIV often struggle to access the food they need to stay well, because of ill health, poverty, isolation and a lack of motivation to eat well, or limited skills or knowledge. Every service user is referred by a health or social care professional who has identified them in need of nutritional support. Each service user receives a Personalised Nutrition Care Plan designed specifically to meet their needs. By offering a tailored package of support, at the appropriate time, we help people to lead healthy, independent lives.
