Support for the U.S. Veterans S.A.N.E. Act (H.R.602)

The Issue

Dear Members of the 119th Congress,

I am signing this petition to express my support for the U.S. Veterans S.A.N.E. Act for the current Congressional legislative session.

I am asking you to support H.R.602 (“To direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to ensure that sexual assault nurse examiners are employed at certain Department of Veterans Affairs medical facilities, and for other purposes”). This legislative proposal will further help and support Veterans and Soldiers who serve our nation.

Not all Veteran Affairs & military hospitals are equipped with a comprehensive program for Victims of sexual assault, meaning: VA Hospitals are unequipped to handle sexual assault emergencies, making them inferior to civilian facilities.

Sexual assault is not a “civilian problem.” Sexual assault is a real and present danger to the Veterans of the United States Armed Forces. And military sexual assault (MST) is a real and present danger to the active-duty Soldiers who are in service to the United States of America.

Our country is damaged when we fail to provide adequate care to our Enlisted, and to our Veterans.

By impeding assault Survivors’ access to Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (or, SANE Nurses), performances are impacted, investigations are impeded, and the problem is allowed to flourish and to continue to erode our present and future readiness.

Furthermore, the problem actively tarnishes the reputation on which our claim to moral authority is based.

To remedy this, please support H.R.602 (“To direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to ensure that sexual assault nurse examiners are employed at certain Department of Veterans Affairs medical facilities, and for other purposes”).
