Show our support for Chief Lee and Sanford Police Department. Not only do we want to KEEP CHIEF LEE, but we want him back ASAP!!!!
During a press conference held Thursday March 22, 2012, Chief Billy Lee made the hard decision to temporarily step down as Chief of Police for the City Of Sanford due to pressure from several of our city commissioners and our mayor.
Chief Lee... has been in office since May 8, 2011. Chief Lee has brought a unique blend of law enforcement experience, local knowledge, education and training to the City of Sanford. His background is complemented by a solid work ethic and an enthusiastic commitment to community policing and customer service that has served our citizens well. Prior to his current position, Chief Lee served 27 years with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, retiring as a Captain in 2009. After his retirement from the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, Chief Lee continued to serve as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the SCSO. Just prior to taking office with Sanford Police Department he served as the Associate Dean of the Center for Public Safety at Seminole State College. Lee served in all facets of the Sheriff’s Office and at the time of his retirement, he commanded the Special Operations Division. His education and training include a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida. He graduated from the FBI National Academy in 2001.
He is the best and only person for the job! WE WANT HIM BACK!
