Support for Governor Youngkin's GMU Commencement Speaker

Support for Governor Youngkin's GMU Commencement Speaker
The Issue
On March 23rd, 2023, George Mason University Announced that Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin would address the graduating class of 2023 during the May 18th Commencement Ceremony at EagleBank Arena.
Preceding this announcement, George Mason University has failed to represent the voices of those who have viewpoints that oppose the left wing perspective of the world. Those who protested faced all kinds of threats of bodily harm, social out-casting and even academic harm.
George Mason University's namesake comes from one of our great founding fathers who wanted to build a United Nation with freedom and liberties for all. One of the most important freedoms was Freedom of Speech. Unfortunately, today we see that GMU has failed to live up to these goals.
If GMU falls to the pressure of the few and refuses to allow Governor Glenn Youngkin to be the commencement speaker, it will show that GMU doesn't live up to its founding values.
We support Governor Youngkin, not cause we agree with him on all the issues, but rather that everyone has a right to speech, even speech we may disagree with.
Also those who oppose Governor Youngkin have slandered him, saying he's a racist, homophobic bigot. He is none of those things, he is a man of compassion who wants a better Virginia for all regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, sexuality, gender.
