Support Field Lighting for Youth Baseball

The Issue

Organization: Chartiers Houston Youth Baseball Association (CHYBA)

We, the undersigned residents, parents, and supporters of youth athletics, respectfully ask the leadership of Chartiers Township to consider partnering with the Chartiers Houston Youth Baseball Association (CHYBA) in exploring the installation of field lighting at the Mustang and Bronco baseball fields in Houston.

CHYBA serves a large and growing number of local youth athletes each season. As participation continues to increase, available daylight has become one of the primary limitations for practices and games, particularly during early spring and late fall. Additional lighting would provide greater scheduling flexibility and help ensure consistent opportunities for players and families.

Field lighting would allow:

• More reliable practice and game schedules

• Reduced congestion on available field space

• Evening opportunities that better accommodate working families

• Continued growth of youth programming within our community

We want to emphasize that this request comes from a place of collaboration and shared investment in our township’s youth. CHYBA has already begun researching potential grant opportunities and funding sources to help responsibly support this type of project. We intend to work alongside the township, not to place financial strain upon it. Through grants, fundraising, and thoughtful planning, we believe this could become a manageable, long-term improvement for our community facilities.

This project represents more than extended playing time. It reflects a commitment to providing safe, structured, and positive opportunities for children in our township for years to come. Modern lighting systems are designed to be energy-efficient and mindful of surrounding properties, and we would approach any next steps carefully and transparently.

We appreciate the continued support Chartiers Township provides to youth programs and respectfully ask that this opportunity be considered in that same spirit of partnership and trust.
