The Issue

I am a proud alumni of South Central School, and today I am speaking out on behalf of the schools amazing choir director. This new addition to the teaching staff, who has both demonstrated exceptional musical prowess and built strong connections with students, is facing unjust prejudice due to his sexual orientation. Tragically, efforts are being made to force him out of the position he justly earned and enjoys.

The beauty of the choir under his stewardship has been evident. The choir performance that got the students to state is a testament to the director's skills, passion, and dedication to enhancing the musical talents of his students. This is not just about maintaining a job; it's about standing up against bias and championing diversity within our school and wider community.

This is a matter close to my heart. As someone who deeply respects the LGBTQ+ community, I cannot stand by as this outstanding professional and role model is treated unjustly. Discrimination based on sexual orientation is not only morally wrong but also prohibited by law. According to the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 and the Department of Education's guidelines, sexual orientation should not be a factor in employment decisions.

By signing this petition, we stand in solidarity with our valued choir director and demonstrate to educational institutions that prejudice has no place within their staff. We uphold the principles of equality, diversity, and fairness that should be inherent in our educational system. Please add your signature to our cause, ensuring the choir director continues to inspire students at South Central.
