My family is living under the constant threat of natural disasters in Florida. Their welfare and safety are my utmost concerns. Our local communities and states alone cannot handle the magnitude of crises like hurricanes, severe storms, and corresponding floods. FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) plays a critical role in responding to and recovering from major natural disasters. Yet, their operations are often challenged by budget constraints. Currently, the funding FEMA receives is inconsistent and unreliable. This becomes a major issue during crucial times when immediate response and resources are necessary. Above all, the frequency and severity of these disasters are escalating each year. According to the National Climate Assessment, Florida will keep facing an increasing number of intense hurricanes due to climate change. This only highlights more on the urgency of this matter. It's time to act and ensure FEMA gets the reliable funding they need, not just for my family but for every family living in disaster-prone areas.
