Dr. Kashara Moore, a Part-Time faculty/Counselor at the Long Beach City College California. She started her job back in June 2012. She is a hard working, student focus, equity and justice oriented individual. She is popular amongst her students and has always supported causes that benefited students, faculty and staff. She has recently been elected as the President of the Part Time faculty Union (CHI) and an At-Large Director of Higher Education with the National Education Association. These appointments speak volumes of the individual that she is. On June 9th 2022 at the commencement, Dr. Kashara Moore was the only Black faculty on the stage as one of the name readers. She mispronounced a student's name. An unjustified reaction broke on the stage and later she was put on leave of absence with pay. The student has accused Dr. Moore of "elbowing her" ! Dr. Kashara Moore absolutely did not intentionaly elbow the student. There is no evidence of physcial assault. The administration has informed her of a "proposal of dismissal" pending an upcoming meeting for her to clear her name! Dr. Moore has had stellar performance reviews and no prior disciplinary issues throughout her ten year career with the college. Please sign this petition in support of Dr. Kashara Moore to be reinstated to her job of helping the most marginalized student population on campus and also with no additional disciplinary action. The time she has served since she was put on a leave of absence (with pay) is discipline enough!
