Support Dignity Health Nurses @ Mercy General Hospital During COVID-19 Pandemic

The Issue

We the bedside nurses at Mercy General Hospital / Dignity Health and members of the California Nurses Association believe that we must alert our community about the realities we are facing at our hospital.  We have attempted on several occasions to resolve this matter internally with Nursing Administration, yet they have not been willing to truly engage with us in a meaningful or productive manner.

In order to best care for our patients, ourselves and our community during the COVID-19 pandemic we need the following commitments from Mercy General Hospital Nursing Administration:

  •  Agree to meet weekly with the C.N.A. Professional Practice Committee Chair and Chief Nurse Representative, just as other Dignity Health hospitals are doing in the Sacramento region.
  • Agree to honor the nurse to patient ratios, which allow nurses to best care for our patients.
  • Agree to supply proper personal protective equipment, such as new N-95s and PAPRs, and to cease any plans of “recycling” masks.
  • Agree not to oppose nurse’s COVID-19 related workers compensation claims

We are asking for your support, please sign our petition and inform Ms. Allison Cotterill, Chief Nurse Executive,  and Edmundo Castañeda, President, that the community supports the bedside nurses and their struggle for a safe and respectful work environment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

*We are not asking for monetary contributions. We are asking for your signature of support!
