For years, we have dedicated our careers as registered dietitians to helping people improve their health through medical nutrition therapy. From managing diabetes and heart disease to preventing hospitalizations and improving quality of life, our work directly impacts the well-being of my community.

Yet, despite our qualifications and the desire to serve Florida Blue members, we have been repeatedly denied access to their provider panel. Florida Blue has closed its panel to dietitians, preventing thousands of Floridians from receiving the nutrition care they desperately need.

We have patients who come to us in crisis—struggling to manage their blood sugar, dealing with chronic kidney disease, or trying to navigate the overwhelming world of food allergies. They have Florida Blue insurance, but when they search for a dietitian in-network, their options are severely limited or nonexistent. Some are forced to pay out-of-pocket, while others simply go without care. This is unacceptable.

Florida Blue’s decision to keep its provider panel closed is not just a business decision—it’s a barrier to life-changing and lifesaving care. Dietitians are essential providers, and our work helps reduce hospital admissions, prevent complications, and lower healthcare costs. Expanding the panel is a win for patients, a win for providers, and a win for the healthcare system as a whole.

We are calling on Florida Blue to immediately reopen the dietitian provider panel so that more dietitians can serve their insured members. We need your voice to make this happen.
