Pierre Damas Bel was only 20 years old when he died by suicide on August 31, 2026.

His death has stayed with me, and it’s part of what moved me to finally act on something I’ve been thinking about for a long time.

In 2023, I worked with Dr. Ebony Butler, creator of "My Therapy Cards", to translate the decks into Haitian Creole. I also recruited and worked with licensed Haitian mental health clinicians to review the translations for flow and cultural soundness.

The Kreyòl decks have not yet been released.

But migration can come with trauma, isolation, language barriers, financial pressure, family separation, and so much uncertainty.

I’m urging individuals and organizations to add their names and show there is real interest in culturally responsive mental-health resources for Haitian and migrant communities.

If there is meaningful interest, I will advocate further to see if the Kreyòl decks can be released for purchase. If they are, we will mobilize to help organizations afford them.
