Support Crystal Manuel: A Dedicated Employee Treated Unfairly

The Issue

Hello, my name is Crystal Manuel, and for the past several years, I have had the privilege of working at The Glass Bottle Liqour Shop at 9540 Greenfield Road, Detroit MI 49227, where I have served countless customers with dedication and respect. Recently, I was let go under circumstances I believe were unfair, following an incident where I made a minor mistake due to intense verbal hostility from a customer. Unfortunately, my boss chose to support the customer’s account over mine, mischaracterizing my actions and causing me to lose my job, despite my years of reliable service.

Now, as I appeal for the unemployment benefits I need to support myself, I am seeking your help. I’m reaching out to the valued customers I’ve served over the years for a show of support in this petition. Your signature will help demonstrate to the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Commission the true nature of my work ethic, character, and dedication.

Reason for This Petition:
I have dedicated myself to providing excellent customer service at The Glass Bottle Liqour Shop at 9540 Greenfield Road, Detroit MI 49227, always striving to make sure that each customer felt respected and valued. Unfortunately, in my case, one isolated incident has overshadowed years of positive contributions. The incident in question involved a difficult customer interaction where I miscounted change while trying to keep my composure under significant verbal pressure. Afterward, I took immediate responsibility and sought support from management, expecting understanding and assistance. However, instead of support, I received accusations and was blamed for the incident.

My boss testified in my unemployment hearing with inaccurate statements that misrepresent my actions. There were allegations that I was rude and unprofessional, and he claimed I had a history of poor behavior—all of which is untrue and lacks documentation. For over 3+ years I have maintained a clean record, with no prior complaints or disciplinary actions related to customer service or professionalism. Despite this, my employer’s unsupported claims led to the denial of my unemployment benefits, leaving me without income while I search for new work.

Why Your Support Matters:
By signing this petition, you are helping to provide the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Commission with a balanced, accurate view of my character and work ethic. Many of you have seen my daily dedication to customer service and know that this one incident does not reflect my true character. My goal with this petition is to show that I am a hardworking individual who treated my job—and every customer I served—with respect and commitment. This petition will serve as a character statement that speaks to my professionalism and integrity from the perspective of those who witnessed it firsthand.

Impact of Your Support:
Unemployment benefits are essential to my ability to make ends meet while I seek new employment. Losing this support due to unsubstantiated claims would be devastating, not only financially but also as a matter of fairness. Your signature can make a real difference in helping to overturn this decision and show the Commission that I have the support of the community I served for years.

How to Sign:
Please add your name to this petition if you have had positive experiences with me at The Glass Bottle Liqour Shop at 9540 Greenfield Road, Detroit MI 49227 and believe that I provided respectful, professional service. Your signature will affirm that this incident is not representative of my character and that I deserve fair treatment in this appeal process.

Thank you for your time and support. Your voice could help ensure that I am treated fairly in this process and receive the benefits I need during this challenging time.
