Support Connected Chef’s Queens Community Food Center!
The Issue
Connected Chef is facing eviction in October due to the rezoning of LIC and the development of our beloved lot. We’re being forced to move our distribution center and all associated programming. This is a huge undertaking while continuing to maintain weekly distribution to food insecure community members.
We’ve met with our landlord to discuss alternatives. We have requested a 500 square foot space in one of their vacant LIC properties, but have not been given any tangible options yet.
For the past four years, Connected Chef has been a cornerstone of the LIC and Queens community, providing fresh, affordable produce and a pick-up point for Lifeline Groceries, our flagship program ensuring that families have access to high-quality, nutritious food.
Our distribution of almost 5 million pounds of fresh groceries has directly impacted the lives of over 48,050 individuals across our beautiful borough. We’ve built the first farm stand in Queensbridge Houses that brings fresh produce from Black and Latine farmers to our community weekly. We’ve maintained stable prices for all despite the volatility of grocery prices from year to year. We are also the only farm stand in LIC.
While we are confident, we need your support.
