Support Community Music at Little Lodge – Let’s Find a Fair Solution
The Issue
We, the undersigned, are asking Teignbridge District Council, Dartmoor National Park (DNP) to reconsider the current restrictions that prevent any music from being played in the grounds or garden of Dartmoor Lodge.
Little Lodge has long been a cherished community space - welcoming, inclusive, and dedicated to creating memorable experiences for families, friends, and neighbours. Music has always played a small but meaningful part in that spirit, helping bring people together for weddings, celebrations, and local events.
Unfortunately, Teignbridge District Council (DNP) have recently imposed a restriction that completely bans music from being played at Little Lodge. This decision came after a number of noise complaints which to us, feels unfair and not reflective of the reality here. This has been deeply disappointing, not only to us but to countless members of the community who value what the venue brings to our area.
We are committed to being respectful neighbours and maintaining a peaceful environment. All we ask is for a balanced and fair reassessment of this decision. Music has always been such a gentle, beautiful part of the experience at Little Lodge. It brings people together. It creates joy. And now it’s been silenced.
We are calling on Teignbridge District Council (DNP) to:
- Review the basis of the complaints received and the process that led to this ban.
- Consider a compromise that allows limited and managed music use, in line with other similar venues.
- Work collaboratively with Little Lodge and the local community to establish a sustainable path forward.
- Let’s come together to support a thoughtful solution—one that protects peace and harmony while still allowing joy, music, and celebration to be part of community life.
