We as the swim team were notified today May 22, 2023 without warning or notice that Grover Cleveland Charter Highschool is wrongfully terminating Coach Frias with zero explanation or reasoning, and no disciplinary action has been issued. Coach Frias is also the STEM counselor at the school which her position is not being affected by this decision, proving the fact that she is being wrongfully terminated. As a Counselor she has also transitioned mulitple students/ swimmers over the last two decades to highly accredited colleges across the nation. Coach Frias has been a very successful Coach on our team for over 24 years earning multiple titles and advancing multiple alumni to state championships. She has even produced alumni to become current coaches at LAUSD highschools throughout. We have worked with Coach for many years and seen her work with others prior to our highschool career, she mentors several students including alumni and continues to be a stable support, not only for our Team but our school. Being a Master's swimmer herself and highly recognized within the swim community, she continues to strive to better us with high expectations. Coach Frias supports every swimmer/ student and she does everything in her power to create a safe and comfortable environment at our school. She has pushed and supported all the swimmers in the present and the past to be the best people they can possibly be. She is the backbone of our team and will be for many more years.

If Coach Frias is wrongfully removed from the team several students will be impacted with our future in athletics, academics, and social emotional well-being. Without her as the coach, the team loses many of the outstanding qualities that swim has come to be known for. Both the future swimmers and their parents will be losing out on an amazing high school and life experience.

Let it be known we refuse to allow Grover Cleveland Charter Highschool to wrongfully terminate our highly accomplished and successful Coach.
