I’ve been actively collaborating with the association to bring about safe, affordable, and effective improvements in our neighborhood, Pinehurst. Since relocating here eight years ago, I’ve noticed a lack of significant progress or upgrades in our community. Regrettably, Pinehurst appears to be the neglected stepchild of the association compared to other subdivisions. While some may be content with this status quo, I firmly believe that we, as the largest subdivision of the Linganore community, deserve better. Our simple request is for a pool in Pinehurst. Currently, all the pools are a car or truck ride away. The association’s explanation for this neglect is the presence of a gazebo and a garden lot, but our playgrounds remain outdated, overrun with bugs, and filled with hazardous holes. The disparities between Pinehurst and other communities in Linganore are evident, especially when comparing it to Westwinds. Just last year, Westwinds underwent improvements with a new pool, community building, and more. Why should Pinehurst settle for anything less? Since joining forces with the LLA, I’ve been tirelessly advocating for an updated traffic study to install speed humps and cushions on our main roads, such as Pinehurst Dr. and Twin Lake Dr. I’ve already pushed for necessary bus stop signs and a speed monitoring system to enhance safety. However, our efforts for a community pool are equally urgent. A local pool not only boosts property values but also fosters community bonding and provides a safe, accessible space for families to relax and children to play. These are the amenities that truly nurture a thriving, cohesive community. Help us make a long-overdue change in Pinehurst.
