PUBLIC PETITION
Support a Strategic Partnership Between the Black Cultural Archives and the Relaunched African Reparations Movement (ARM)
Petition Summary
We, the undersigned, support the proposal that the Black Cultural Archives (BCA) and the relaunched African Reparations Movement (ARM) should explore the possibility of developing a constructive strategic partnership.

This petition does not state that either organisation has agreed to such a partnership.

It simply records public support for the proposal that discussions should take place regarding potential future collaboration in areas of shared interest.

Why This Matters
The history, experiences and achievements of people of African and Caribbean heritage deserve to be preserved, researched, understood and shared with future generations.

The Black Cultural Archives has become one of the United Kingdom's leading institutions dedicated to preserving and promoting Black British history and heritage.

The African Reparations Movement has a long history of advocating for reparatory justice and is now being relaunched with an expanded international vision focused on research, education, public engagement, governance, technology and institutional development.

Although each organisation has its own independent purpose and governance, many of their broader objectives are complementary.

A constructive dialogue between them could identify opportunities for cooperation that strengthen both organisations while allowing each to remain entirely independent.

Possible Areas of Collaboration
Supporters believe discussions could explore cooperation in areas such as:

• preserving historical records relating to reparatory justice;

• developing educational programmes for schools, colleges and universities;

• promoting greater public understanding of Black British history;

• supporting research into slavery, colonialism and their continuing impacts;

• encouraging community engagement across generations;

• public lectures, conferences and exhibitions;

• archival preservation and digitisation projects;

• oral history initiatives;

• collaborative publications;

• internships and volunteer opportunities;

• digital learning resources;

• public policy research;

• international knowledge exchange;

• partnerships with universities, museums and community organisations;

• developing practical infrastructure to support future reparatory justice initiatives.

These examples are illustrative only and do not limit the scope of any future discussions.

Respecting Independence
This petition does not propose a merger.

It does not ask either organisation to change its mission.

It does not seek to influence either organisation's governance.

Instead, it supports the principle that independent organisations with complementary objectives should be encouraged to explore whether working together on selected projects could produce greater public benefit.

Each organisation would retain complete independence.

Why Public Support Matters
Constructive partnerships often begin because members of the public recognise opportunities that organisations may not yet have had the opportunity to explore.

By signing this petition, supporters are simply expressing the view that such conversations would be worthwhile.

If the organisations later decide that no partnership is appropriate, this petition will still have served a valuable purpose by demonstrating public interest in greater cooperation across the fields of Black history, heritage and reparatory justice.

Our Request
We respectfully encourage the leadership of the Black Cultural Archives and the relaunched African Reparations Movement to consider opening constructive discussions regarding whether areas of mutual cooperation may exist that would advance their respective charitable, educational, historical and public-interest objectives.

Sign the Petition
If you believe that stronger cooperation between organisations working to preserve Black history and advance reparatory justice could benefit present and future generations, please add your name in support of this proposal.

Together we can encourage dialogue, strengthen collaboration, preserve historical knowledge and help build practical institutions that serve communities across the United Kingdom and beyond.

This petition supports discussion, cooperation and the exploration of shared opportunities. It does not imply that either organisation has agreed to participate, nor does it represent either organisation's views or decisions.
