Shades of Becoming a Mom (SBMOM)Indianapolis, IN, United States
18 Oct 2022

Officials have referred to Indiana’s maternal mortality rate as the 3rd highest in the country. I know from firsthand experience the kind of impact that racism and unconscious bias has on pregnancy and birthing. By grace, I live to effect change and eradicate systems that should honor all lives. I could have been one of the college-educated Black women who have over 5xs higher pregnancy-related deaths in the US. I lost my baby. I like many women are the 1 in 4 to lose a baby in pregnancy, delivery, or infancy.

Today, you can help support families impacted by pregnancy and infant loss. Together, we can proactively create change for future families while supporting the bereaved. Be a change agent today! Share the petition and encourage others to sign the petition. Knowledge is power!

This petition is not an attempt to influence legislation. There are many factors that contribute to pregnancy and infant loss.

Each person is encouraged to champion their part in improving outcomes for birthing populations. There is POWER in community.

Be a lifeline for families by raising awareness, equipping families with vital information, and starting the conversation about pregnancy and infant loss. This should not be a taboo topic. Shame has no place here! Stand with Moms and Babies.
