Support bill to stop paychecks for Congress and President if there is a government shutdown

Currently, if a government shutdown occurs hundreds of thousands of American's will be forced to go without needed services or paychecks .... unless they happen to be Members of Congress or the President. Debbie Stabenow cosponsored a bill (S.388) with Senators Boxer and Casey that would stop pay for Congress and the President if the government is forced to shut down for more than 24 hours. A shutdown could occur pending the vote on the current budget. Tell Congress we expect them to be accountable for their decisions when managing taxpayer funds. Add your support passage of this bill in the House of Representatives.

Letter to
The President of the United States
Appropriate funding of necessary services in the United States is a foundational responsibility of Congress.

When Congress does not intellectually approach its responsibilities to debate and pass a Presidential budget or to wisely allocate tax payer money, Congress is not doing what they are paid to do. The potential result of increasing the debt ceiling in order to remain open or emergency government shutdowns put this nation at great risk.

In times of crisis, the people of this nation work together and make the sacrifices necessary. It is only right that our leaders do the same. In the spirit of fiscal responsibility, we ask you to support the bill (S.388) cosponsored by Senators Stabenow, Casey, and Boxer that would suspend pay to Congress and the President during a government shutdown.
