The Issue

Help bring reliable wireless coverage, improved emergency communication, and additional resources to Brassfield Elementary and the surrounding North Raleigh community.

Reliable cell service is an essential part of everyday life. It allows parents to stay connected with their children’s school, helps teachers and staff communicate when it matters, and gives families greater confidence that they can reach emergency services when needed.

Yet wireless coverage in and around Brassfield Elementary School remains inadequate. From the carpool line to areas inside the school, gaps in service can make reliable communication difficult when it is needed most.

A proposed wireless tower at Brassfield Elementary offers an opportunity to address this longstanding coverage gap.

APC Edge has proposed a stealth monopole designed to blend into the surrounding wooded area and resemble a tree. The proposed location was selected to improve wireless coverage while minimizing its visual presence on campus.

The benefits extend beyond stronger cell service. More reliable wireless connectivity can support communication among parents, school staff, and emergency responders, including the ability to make 911 calls when needed. As part of the proposal, APC Edge has also committed to constructing an emergency vehicle access road on the north side of the school, providing an additional emergency access route to the campus.

The project would also generate revenue for Wake County Public School System, creating a potential long-term financial benefit for our public schools without relying solely on taxpayer funding.

Wireless infrastructure is already part of the broader Wake County school community, with wireless facilities or agreements at other district schools. Brassfield has an opportunity to address its own connectivity needs through a carefully planned project designed for its specific location.

APC Edge has stated that the proposed facility will comply with applicable FCC requirements and RF exposure standards.

This is an opportunity to improve connectivity, strengthen emergency communication, provide an additional access route for emergency vehicles, and generate revenue for our schools.

We respectfully ask the Wake County Board of Education to support the proposed wireless tower at Brassfield Elementary School.

If you believe reliable connectivity and emergency communication matter for our children, teachers, families, and surrounding community, please sign this petition and show your support.

Together, we can help bring a practical, long-term solution to Brassfield Elementary and the North Raleigh community.
