We citizens of Norwalk believe that noisy polluting gas-powered leaf blowers are a present and increasing threat to the residents of our town.  The pollution and high pitched noise produced by these machines are known to cause adverse health effects including hearing loss, tinnitus, decreased cognitive performance, heart disease, and hypertension. Gas blowers are also a major source of air pollution and harmful to all wildlife.

Many other communities in our region have already passed bans or restrictions on these machines to protect the environment and  residential quality of life.

The proposed Norwalk ordinance will restrict the use of all blowers to spring and fall, and phase in a total ban on gas powered blowers starting in 2027, giving residents a respite in the summer and landscapers ample opportunity to transition to electric machines or rakes.

We believe it is critically important to pass this ordinance for the benefit the health, welfare and peace of mind of all Norwalk residents, present and future.
