Support Animal Keeping, Local Food and Small Farming in Queens Co, Nova Scotia
The Issue
The Region of Queens is introducing a restrictive Livestock Bylaw quietly in their new LUB policy. Throughout this process they have not publicly shared that this new policy involved livestock.
In our current times access to local healthy food is limited by rising costs and availability. Animal Keeping, Homesteading and Small Farming has enormous positive impacts on a communities wellbeing and economic sustainability.
The policy has been developed by people who don't understand livestock and without consulting with homesteaders and farmers in the area. It also restricts ability to grow food crops in residential areas.
Please sign this petition in support of an animal keeping policy that is developed in coordination with appropriate stakeholders and experts and that supports people's right to grow food.
