Support and Reward Scientists in Tamil Nadu
The Issue
While athletes and film personalities receive multi-crore cash rewards, homes, and public adulation, Tamil Nadu's top-ranked scientists face inadequate funding and administrative neglect. We are in no way against the rewards given to achievers in sports, entertainment, or any other field—we celebrate Oscars and Olympics. But just as fiercely, our highest state priority must be to invest in, protect, and fund the minds building our future.
An urgent question arises: why is comparable financial commitment and institutional support not extended to scientists? Even when local professors achieve global recognition—such as ranking in Stanford's Top 2% Scientists list—they operate without proper financial support or security. A state aspiring to true progress must invest in its intellectual pioneers. We urge the Government of Tamil Nadu to introduce major cash awards, establish a dedicated research fund, and provide secure support for our scientific visionaries. It is the primary duty of the government to take action on this cause.
