Thanks to the incredible support from parents, students, and staff, DoDEA has announced that all athletic practices and after-school activities will resume starting tomorrow, October 8, 2025.

This is a huge win, but our work isn’t done and we're not stopping here. This shutdown has shown us how quickly essential programs can be taken away, and we owe it to our students to make sure it never happens again. The next step is to push for a permanent policy change.

Next Step: Urge DoDEA to officially update its policies so that athletics and extracurricular activities are designated as “excepted activities,” meaning they will continue even during funding lapses.

Long-Term Goal: Contact your senators and representatives to support legislation protecting these essential programs. If written into law, athletics and extracurriculars would have stronger, lasting protections.

Our children deserve more than uncertainty and their opportunities shouldn't depend on the federal budget. They deserve the chance to compete, to create, to lead, and to belong. Together, we can make sure these opportunities are never put on hold again. Let’s keep the momentum going!
