It is September 7, 2024, three years after this petition was originally posted, and there is still no emergency shelter for neighbors who are experiencing homelessness on the far NWS.

When this petition was first posted in 2021, Chicago's Point In Time count of homeless people indicated that 4,447 people where living unsheltered. 

 In 2024, Chicago's Point In Time count of homeless individuals indicated that over 18,500 people are now homeless and this number does not include people living in cars, garages and other spaces that are not designed for housing people.  We desperately need emergency shelter beds on the far NWS, especially as we enter into Fall and Winter. Please consider signing to support unsheltered NWS neighbors.  Thank you
