Support Alayna & other ASU survivors

The Issue

Trigger Warning. When Arizona State University undergraduate Alayna reported being sexually assaulted on campus in February 2020, ASU police delayed her forensic exam, made her sign an NDA and refused to stop harassing her as she recovered from COVID-19. The Department of Education determined ASU's investigation violated the Clery Act.

Alayna was not expecting so many people to watch and share video she made detailing her experience. She is grateful for the support and passionate about making sure other victims don’t go through what she went through, so she’s using her platform to advocate for rape crisis services ASU is lacking. ASU has no rape crisis center, no women’s center, and did not offer non-police victim advocates until September 2021. ASU has only two full-time prevention staff members and two victim advocates to serve 100,000+ students, 28,000 staff, and four major campuses. If ASU had better prevention and victim services, Alayna's experience might not have been so devastating.

In addition to reimbursement for therapy and legal costs, Alayna is demanding that ASU create a Campus Assault Advocacy, Resources & Education (CAARE) center modeled after programs at University of California. Join Alayna and student organizations demanding ASU:

  1. Fund the CAARE center, including hiring additional professional sexual and relationship violence prevention staff and confidential victim advocates.
  2. Reimburse Alayna for the cost of specialized trauma therapy.
  3. Reimburse Alayna for legal fees incurred as a result of ASU's illegal investigation.
