The Issue

As a member of Arizona’s vibrant automotive community and an active organizer in local car events, I've personally witnessed the unfortunate shift of motor enthusiasts moving their activities to public streets. This isn't for lack of passion or community spirit but rather a lack of access to legal, safe, and affordable venues. This situation not only endangers drivers and spectators but also jeopardizes the safety of our entire community across the Valley.

Arizona’s automotive culture is flourishing; however, the absence of consistently available legal motorsports facilities has led to a rise in illegal street activities. This is a pressing issue that calls for immediate attention. In recent years, the community has seen a significant increase in unauthorized street racing and drifting, coinciding with the marked growth of our automotive community. The consequences are evident: increased safety risks, potential accidents, and disruption within neighborhoods.

We propose the development of a professionally managed motorsports park in the Phoenix/Tonopah area. Such a facility would provide enthusiasts with a legitimate outlet to enjoy their passion responsibly. This park would not only alleviate public safety concerns by reducing illegal street activities but also support local businesses and events, contributing economically to our region.

A motorsports park would serve as a hub for community engagement, offering programs that educate drivers on safe practices and fostering a respectable and law-abiding culture among automotive enthusiasts. Furthermore, the operationalization of a motorsports facility could lead to job creation, boost in tourism, and an enhanced sense of community.

Statistics from other regions with dedicated motorsports parks show significant reductions in illegal activities, demonstrating a positive correlation between legal venues and public safety. By investing in such a facility, we can create a safer environment for all, preserve the integrity and growth of the automotive culture, and promote responsible enjoyment of the sport.

It's time to embrace the automotive passion that so many Arizonans share by providing a safe, controlled, and professionally managed environment. Join us in supporting this initiative to secure a safer and more prosperous future for our community.
