The Issue

Newfoundland once had a railway that connected communities, moved freight, supported industry, and gave people another way across the island.

Today, with rising transportation costs, road pressure, tourism growth, and the need for stronger infrastructure, many people believe it is time to take a serious second look.

This petition is not asking government to blindly rebuild the old railway overnight. It is asking for a modern, independent feasibility study into whether rail could once again serve Newfoundland and Labrador through freight, passenger travel, tourism, emergency access, and long-term economic development.

Newfoundland deserves more than “that’s how it used to be.” We deserve updated facts, real numbers, and a serious study on what could be possible.

Please sign if you support a modern rail feasibility study for Newfoundland and Labrador.
