The Issue

Support a DIY Skatepark at Hanna Park!

Let’s turn blighted land into something amazing.

We’re calling on friends, neighbors, skaters, and supporters of community spaces to back a plan for a DIY skatepark at Hanna Park, created by the Mohawk Neighborhood CDC in partnership with The Cincinnati Skatepark Project.

Right now, the eight parcels that make up the area we are requesting in Hanna Park are barely used and contain a wholly cracked black top, a chained children's play set and general blight and aging aspects that are in need of full replacement. But it could be so much more—a space built by and for the community. A DIY skatepark would bring life, energy, and safe recreation to this overlooked corner of our city.

Why a skatepark?

  • It’s for everyone: Skateparks bring together people of all ages and backgrounds. They're free to use, open year-round, and promote healthy activity.

  • It activates space: Empty lots often attract trash and neglect. A DIY park brings pride, purpose, and people.

  • It builds community: DIY skateparks are about more than skating—they’re about showing what local creativity and teamwork can do.

  • It works: Cities across the country have seen DIY parks reduce crime, create safer places for youth, and even boost nearby businesses (Skatepark Project, 2021).

We’ve got the space. We’ve got the people. We’ve got the passion. Now we just need your support.

Sign this petition to show you believe Hanna Park deserves better—and that a skatepark is the right next step.

Let’s build something real, together.
