This is a set petition by residents of the East Knoxville community seeking protection from displacement due to disproportionate earning potential of residents of the community salaries in comparison to outside investors’ capital, seeking to buy out city-held land in low income communities; which in turn, historically has lead to generations of legacy residents being forced  out of their communities due to the increase of market rent occurring too rapidly, resulting in the dismantling of affordable housing for hundreds, even thousands of families. WE "THE RESIDENTS" ARE ASKING THAT THE CITY OF KNOXVILLE INSTITUTE AND SUPPORT A COMMUNITY LAND TRUST FOR The Chilhowee Park land for THE NEXT 50 YEARS, ALONGSIDE A RENTAL MARKET CAP in East-Knoxville TO  ENSURE THAT LEGACY RESIDENTS HAVE AMPLE TIME TO ADJUST TO DRASTICALLY INCREASING INFLATION and GENTRIFICATION.  WE WANT THE CITY OF KNOXVILLE TO INVEST TAX PAYER DOLLARS INTO UPGRADE CHILHOWEE PARK AS IT HAS WITH OTHER PARKS THROUGHOUT THE CITY.

WE DO NOT WANT AN EMERALD COMPLEX ON THE MIDWAY PARK LAND.
