Paula Walters started this petition to State Senator Cliff Hite and

Ohio is in desperate need of a violent offender registry.  We the people want our elected officials to make this happen.  Many violent offenders reoffend and we have a right to be informed about those who are habitually dangerous to others. In Northwest Ohio alone we have several cases where violent offenders went on to either kill or critically harm their next unknowing victim.

Kristine Keiser, age 44, shot four times by ex husband who had history of doing the same to a previous girl friend.  He had moved from the County in which he did this crime making it very difficult for her to know his past.

Seirah Joughin, age 20, was murdered this summer by a man who had a violent history.   Twenty five years ago in close to the same spot and under almost identical conditions, he had attacked another woman.  He received minimal jail time and then was released to live out in our neighborhoods.  This man lived in a quiet rural neighborhood to prey on unknowing victims.

You can read case after case where plea deals are given and violent offenders receive reduced sentences.  These violent offenders live amongst us and we are none the wiser.  We have the right to be informed of what violence and evil lives in our communities.

This petition is asking law makers to start a bill that would give Ohio a violent offender registry.  We are asking for violent crimes at the F3 level and above.  We would like to see things like felonious assault, menacing by stalking, strangulation (if passed in Ohio as a felony), abduction, kidnapping, trafficking of humans, and felony domestic violence to be included with the obvious murder and aggravated murder.

Please join us in this continued journey for our safety of the citizens of Ohio  by signing this.  We need our elected officials to protect our families and communities here in Ohio.
