Support 4-H in Pierce County

Support 4-H in Pierce County
The Issue
We, the undersigned, petition the Pierce County Board to ensure funding for the UW-Madison Extension 4-H Educator 1.0 FTE position and the 0.5 FTE support position in the 2026 budget year.
Pierce County 4-H is one of the largest programs in the state and provides opportunities for youth to develop public speaking skills, raise and show livestock, lead community service projects, and explore STEM through activities like shooting sports and robotics.
Young people involved in 4-H are more likely to excel academically, engage civically, and contribute positively to their communities. By funding these positions, the Pierce County Board will be ensuring the continuation of a program that not only offers substantial benefit to participants but also strengthens the fabric of our county.
Pierce County is in the process of forming its 2026 budget and cuts are on the table. We need to let the board know how much 4-H means to the youth of our county so it is properly funded and can continue to succeed.
Pierce County 4-H alumni have gone on to do great things. Let's keep the tradition rolling.
