The Woodbridge Planning and Zoning (TPZ) meeting last night, July 6th, was truly unprecedented. The Chair of the TPZ read aloud dozens of letters and emails both for and against the immediate construction of the artificial turf field with crumb tire rubber infill from 7:45 pm to 10 pm.  At that late hour, with more letters and emails in the queue and the Chair’s voice giving out, the TPZ decided to continue the rest of the meeting on Monday, July 13 at 6 pm.

Thank you to everyone who submitted a letter or email supporting the moratorium on the construction of this field.  The voices of such a diverse and articulate group—parents, kids, scientists, doctors, attorneys, architects, long-time Woodbridge residents, and dedicated environmental stewards—made for a rousing, impactful meeting. We encourage you to watch the recorded video of the full meeting (link below).

Unfortunately, there were also many pro-artificial turf emails (most from Orange residents), and we do not yet know if the TPZ will approve or deny the application for a Special Exception Permit so that construction of the artificial turf field can commence.  We hope this decision will be reached at the July 13th meeting. IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY SUBMITTED A LETTER OR EMAIL, PLEASE HELP OUR CAUSE AND SEND ONE BY THIS FRIDAY, July 10, TO ksullivan@woodbridgect.org.

These submissions will be read aloud at the July 13th meeting, along with the remaining submissions from the July 6th meeting.  YOU MUST INCLUDE YOUR FULL NAME AND ADDRESS OR YOUR COMMENT WILL NOT BE ENTERED INTO THE PUBLIC RECORD!
