Dear animal lover,
The photo above inspires me.
On Saturday, over 30 Co-op members and customers came together outside Co-op HQ to make their voices heard.
People from across the UK travelled to the member-led protest in Manchester because they are fed up with Co-op’s animal cruelty.
Their message: stop selling Frankenchickens.
Because, astonishingly for an ‘ethical’ and ‘democratic’ company, Co-op bosses continue to ignore a landslide vote by members against using fast-growing Frankenchickens. Millions of chickens are suffering while Co-op profits.
But this protest gives me hope. Hope because people are standing up for their principles. Hope because the animals are not alone.
Will you join them and grow that hope even more? By taking action now, you can show Co-op bosses that there is a kinder way.

Submit a complaint
Co-op bosses are really feeling the pressure, even from fellow business leaders. Last week Dragon’s Den star Deborah Meaden took to Twitter and told Co-op ‘you need to do better than this’. Will you help add even more pressure by submitting a complaint now?
Simply:
- Click this link and fill in the required details on the page (note: membership number is not a required field).
- Under ‘What can we help you do today’ select ‘I want to talk to you about Co-op ethics and sustainability’
- Under ‘Tell us about your experience’ select ‘AGM’ or ‘Animal Welfare’
Explain why you think that Co-op should stop selling fast-growing Frankenchickens.
Thank you for taking the time to take action for chickens. Every action you take brings us closer to a kinder world.
For the animals,
Cordelia, Head of Programs at The Humane League UK
