Hi, Sean here again from The Humane League UK. 

Last week I was nervous. Now I’m just excited.

I’m at the High Court for the first day of our hearing demanding justice for chickens and the place is buzzing. Around me, a peaceful demonstration by Humane League volunteers, supporters and staff is taking place. Celebrities, journalists and camera crews are mingling.

As I write, news of our case - and the reality of fast-growing chickens in the UK - is reaching millions of new people. BBC Breakfast, Good Morning Britain, Radio 2, Radio 5 Live, BBC News at One, The Mirror. Coverage is growing by the hour.

Years of hard work have brought us to this moment. I’m a little overwhelmed.

Over the next two days, a David vs. Goliath battle will unfold inside this court, as we face up to the government and argue that the keeping of fast-growing Frankenchickens is unlawful.

Amidst it all, my mind will be on the lives we are fighting for. The millions of chickens who are suffering right now because of how they were bred. The billions of chickens who are destined to suffer in the future. Unless... 

Unless. Something. Changes.

This could be the moment we make that change happen. But whatever the outcome of this case, this is an historic moment in the fight to end the abuse of farmed animals in the UK. A moment powered by your support, your generosity, your love for animals.

And I’ll tell you something. We won’t ever back down from this fight until the job is done.

Because of our work, people are waking up to the reality of factory farming. Conversations are starting. Defenders of the status quo are growing increasingly worried.
