Midshipman Chase Standage should be separated from the Naval Academy for racist comments.

The Issue

Midshipman 1/C Chase Standage made multiple racist posts and comments on social media including that Breonna Taylor received "justice" when she was shot and killed in Kentucky. Standage's also made comments including "good hit" regarding a photo of a police officer firing tear gas at an unarmed protestor demonstrating in the wake of George Floyd's killing. He commented "these riots would've been over a whole lot quicker" if police officers could kill unarmed people. Today, Standage is still a midshipman and at the United States Naval Academy even though superintendant Shawn Buck publicly stated there is no place for anyone with such views at the United States Naval Academy. Standage's abhorrent behavior is not fitting of a Naval Officer and severely damages the credibility and honor of the institution. His continued presence at the academy and as a member of the military creates an environment of accepted prejudice that harms midshipman of color and the entire brigade. He has clearly violated the code of conduct and should be separated immediately.
